
The dreaded weight loss stall. No matter what lifestyle change you’re on, your weight loss is EXPECTED to stall. Your then goal should be to continue to make progress through healthier food choices and NOT STOP because of the dreaded stall.
Most of us will experience a stall, or two, or three, or five during our transition to keto. When this happens, this does not mean you’ve failed. This does not mean your body is broken. It’s most likely because you need to switch things up or move about at a new approach.
By switching up your approaches, I don’t mean binging one day and then fasting the next. I’m talking about making small adjustments to your current diet plan that will get you moving again.
There are many strategies you can use to break through a weight loss stall. Let’s dig in a little deeper of what happens when we lose weight and why many of us will not progress at the rate we may expect when switching to a ketogenic diet.
How To Break Through A Stall
#1 Track Your Calories.
To be able to continue to lose weight, your body must be in a calorie deficit. If you don’t know how many calories a day you should be eating, check out our keto calculator here.
#2 Recalculate your macros at least every month as you lose weight.
#3 Take intermittent breaks from calorie restrictions. Calorie cycling is a great way to trick the body.
#4 Try intermittent fasting.
#5 Do a 3 day fat fast
#6 Eat the right amount of protein. This can be difficult to do for a lot of people. Try a low carb ketogenic protein shake once a day.
